Collingswood High School:
Pat played football, soccer, and baseball. Baseball was by far his most enjoyable and successful sport. Pat had great command of an arsenal of pitches and it also helped that he was a 6’2” 210 lb pitcher, which can be pretty intimidating in high school. He had an uncanny ability to put a smile on anyone's face. He somehow managed to put a smile on his baseball coach’s face after arriving 1st after a park run carrying a milkshake. Coach Ross didn’t know whether to be proud that he finished 1st way ahead of everyone else or angry that he had a milkshake from Mr. Softy. His charm made others feel better about themselves and also helped him to stay out of a lot of trouble while at Collingswood.
Following High School:
Pat went on to Gloucester County College to play baseball. He tried out for the team and became one of the closers for the program. There was something about the pressure of closing that he thrived on. He used to say “I shower in it.”
After College:
After baseball, Pat found himself working at Bancroft with individuals with special needs. His ability to understand the unspoken language of the people that he worked with was remarkable. They felt comfortable with him and seemed to be able to achieve things that they had been told their whole lives they were incapable of doing. His ability to speak for those without a voice was inspiring.
The Barber:
Pat’s true calling started in high school as just something fun to do and eventually turned into a career as a barber. He used to cut his buddies hair throughout high school and college. Then as word spread that he was the guy to go to for a clean fade, his client list kept growing. Anyone that received a haircut from Pat would say that the cut lasted a couple weeks, but the genuine conversation is something that can be treasured for a lifetime. His ability to make everyone, balding or not, feel confident after leaving his chair was a gift that not many can say they have.
The Golfer:
If Pat wasn't in the shop making people look and feel good, you better believe you would have found him on the golf course. An avid golfer, Pat was a 5 handicap with the ability to go low. The most impressive part about Pat's connection to golf was that he was a true spokesman for the sport. I cannot even begin to think how many people he introduced to golf. He would spend time at the range showing them how to pose after a shot. For those who have played with him, you know what I mean. He also didn't mind if you were good, bad, or terrible. He was simply happy to have the company of good people around him.
